Activities

Just seven miles long and a half of a mile at its widest point, Gasparilla Island offers an idyllic atmosphere for relaxation, as well as outdoor recreation. As a guest of The Innlet, you can enjoy popular island activities that include:

Fishing

Boca Grande is a year-round destination for sport fishing, and The Innlet makes it a breeze to catch your favorite fish. Snook and redfish are plentiful in the backwaters of the bayou from August through November. That is also prime season for grouper, snapper, mackerel, and kingfish in the Gulf of Mexico. Some of the best sport fishing occurs in spring and early summer when Boca Grande earns its reputation for being the “Tarpon Capital of the World.” Regardless of the season, the fishing is always great in the surrounding waters of Gasparilla island.

Boating

Sailors, boaters and kayakers of all types are lured to Gasparilla Island by the mystique of Boca Grande and the 75,000 acres of estuary that surround the island. Freshwater and saltwater merge to provide an ideal gathering spot for a remarkable variety of fish, as well as dolphins, osprey, pelicans, and cormorants. Gentle manatees can also be found in and around the island’s natural mangrove shoreline.

Dock your boat at one of our slips or take advantage of the full-service Inn Marina. Boat rentals and fishing guides are also available on the island with suggested advanced reservations.

Shelling

While on Gasparilla Island, you can stroll along the Gulf of Mexico collecting beautiful seashells and taking in the wildlife of southwest florida. Our beaches are perfectly suited for shell collectors who will be refreshed by cool breezes from the west.

Beaches

Gasparilla Island’s miles of pristine white sandy beaches along the Gulf of Mexico are ideal for shelling, snorkling, swimming, and watersports. Beach access is located within easy walking distance of The Innlet.

Getting Around the Island

The best way to get around Boca Grande is by golf cart or bicycle. The Gasparilla Island bike path winds directly past The Innlet. No traffic lights will slow you down, and no high rises will impede your view.
